Deer Hunt Changes Coming 2026?

Changes may be coming for Eastern Oregon deer hunts next year. ODFW is proposing to change Eastern Oregon deer hunt areas and boundaries so they align with mule deer herd ranges. The change is a necessary step for ODFW to collect harvest data for an improved population model for mule deer. ODFW wants to be sure hunters are aware before the 2025 controlled hunt deadline as there will be a period of uncertainty regarding the amount of preference points needed to draw a deer hunt in 2026 (as occurs with any new hunt). Learn more from this YouTube video and explore the changes including a map of new hunt boundaries vs current wildlife management units at https://myodfw.com/articles/eastern-oregon-deer-hunts
